Stafford and DBS Developments have announced their second strategic partnership: 429 Walmer, a luxury purpose-built rental community in Toronto’s South Forest Hill neighbourhood. Located just north of St. Clair Avenue West, the 27-storey building will bring over 230 thoughtfully designed rental residences to one of the city’s most coveted addresses.

A Growing Partnership

429 Walmer follows the June 2026 announcement of 11-21 Johnston Avenue, a 524-residence purpose-built rental community at Yonge and Sheppard.

Together, Stafford and DBS Developments bring more than 120 years of combined development, construction and residential management experience, and a shared belief that rental living should offer the same quality, space and care as the city’s finest condominiums.

Why Forest Hill Village

Location is at the heart of 429 Walmer. The site is steps from Forest Hill Village and its boutiques, restaurants, cafés, grocery stores and everyday services, with immediate access to transit. Residents will enjoy the quiet, established character of Forest Hill while staying minutes from the rest of the city.

“Forest Hill is an exceptional community, and the opportunity to create purpose-built rental residences steps from Forest Hill Village, the subway and the St. Clair streetcar is incredibly compelling,” said Jonathan Goldman, President of Stafford.

Designed for Space

Designed by BDP Quadrangle, 429 Walmer pairs a nine-storey podium with landscaped terraces and an eighteen-storey tower above. The massing steps down toward the surrounding neighbourhood, helping the building sit comfortably within its Forest Hill context.

Inside, the focus is on space. A significant portion of residences will be two-bedroom plus den or three-bedroom layouts, a deliberate response to a market where family-sized rental units are increasingly difficult to find. There will be no studios, and some residences will exceed 1,500 sq. ft. Nearly 13,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor amenity space includes a landscaped 5,000 sq. ft. courtyard at grade and an amenity terrace on the tenth floor.

“We are also proud to be delivering residences that are intentionally larger and thoughtfully designed, giving people the opportunity to enjoy the space and quality they are looking for in a neighbourhood they love,” said Goldman.

A Shared Standard

That standard is reflected in Stafford’s condominium residences and in DBS Developments’ experience with communities such as 2Fifteen in Forest Hill. From planning and construction through to day-to-day operations under DBS Communities, the partners will bring a shared focus on thoughtful design, quality materials, attentive service and long-term community building.

Bryan Levy, CEO of DBS Developments, shared this on the announcement:

“With its larger residences and location steps from Forest Hill Village, 429 Walmer offers an opportunity to create a rental community that combines the space people are looking for with the level of service they expect,”
